Routed in History

"Routed in History: History Rides on Community Shoulders" is a collaborative project celebrating the rich cultural legacy and historical contributions of African Americans in Seattle’s Central District. This initiative, spearheaded by community activists, RieImagine Solutions LLC, and the Black Heritage Society of Washington State, in partnership with King County Metro and their Bus Shelter Mural program, features 40 photo murals installed across seven bus shelters in the Central District. Each mural reflects a unique aspect of African American history, culture, and resilience, serving as both a tribute to past generations and an inspiration for the future.
RieImagine Solutions, in collaboration with Black Heritage Society of WA, secured funding from 4Culture and HCAACD (Historical Central Area Arts and Cultural District). RieImagine, played a pivotal role in the engagement and coordination efforts leading to the "Routed in History" project. The company's responsibilities include:

Over three years, we did extensive research and collaboration with local historians, community leaders, and cultural organizations. This included community engagement involvement of local residents and stakeholders in the planning and execution of the project. Also, artistic selection and installation of historically significant photographs and murals that reflect the historical Black community of the Central District’s legacy.
